26th of January -
Australia Day is more than just a public holiday. Whether you’re in the city,
on the coast or in a regional area, there are lots of events that celebrate
everything that’s great about being Australian. In 2014, Hyde Park will be
transformed into a Summer Playground for Aussie kids. The ankle biters will see
some of their favourite television characters and will be treated to a very
special afternoon performance by the Wiggles. There’s a lot for kids to see and
do – all the activities are family friendly and FREE. A cosy Book Nook with
regular story times, Colouring Corner with take home artwork and face painting
- the kids will be entertained all day. Australia Day CARnivale showcasing
hundreds of veteran, vintage and classic cars, buses and trucks as well as an
extensive range of high-performance and luxury vehicles. There’s nothing quite
like Australia Day on Sydney
Harbour,
the city’s crowning jewel. Big bright and exciting, the 2014 program will see
the harbour transformed into a floating festival of new events, with old
favourites mixed in. The return of the Harbour Concert series on Sydney Harbour
will feature live music performances by several major artists and two new
exciting events include the Yacht Ballet and Tinnie Muster. Boats formed part
of the cavalcade of colour and craft, and many walked along the foreshore to
watch vessels of all shapes and sizes strut their stuf.
