Constructed Attraction: 2
Ouro Preto

Ouro preto is an old mining town 513km north of Rio De Janeiro. It was founded in the 17th century, the name “Ouro Preto” means black gold (although the mining done there was for gold not oil) but it was originally named Vila Rica. Ouro Preto was mainly a mining town during the 18th century but is now a UNESCO world heritage site due to it’s ‘baroque’ architecture. Ouro Preto is a rich part of Rio De Janeiro’s history and would be both educational and a great way to get in touch with the history of Rio. As it is a town, there is no cost to visit or hours.

Natural Attraction:1
Iguazu national park

Iguazu national park is home to the iguazu falls which run off the iguazu river are 80m high and 2700m wide, making for a calm and soothing place to relax and unwind with the sound of rush water – but also making a beautiful view and a perfect photo opportunity. Iguazu national park isn’t all about the waterfalls though, it’s also home to a subtropical rainforest with tapirs, giant ant eaters, howler monkeys, ocelots, jaguars and caymans. It has been UNESCO world heritage site since 1984 and is one of the most tranquil and peaceful places to be. It is open from 9am to 5pm 7 days a week and cost $21.01NZD for adult and $4.06NZD for a child. I would like to go there to meditate under the falls.
